Since Jake's 'Yankee Station' came online, back in 1995, we
have been honored by many who have done just that. The Yeoman feels that it's Pay-Back Time for all this help,
to those who honor us so well. The Contributor's List is growing, and since Jake's USS Hancock
Memorial has always been an Awarding
Website, where we give out awards to other
websites of note, it seems also appropriate that we honor those who contribute to this site, whose contributions
enable us to stand out among the many other Military Memorial Websites on the Internet. This Award is presented to contributors of this site, For, without such help and commitment from contributors to
this website, the USS Hancock Memorial would be, at best, mediocre. Mediocrity has never been part of the Hancock
Tradition, and it shall not be a part of the Hancock Memorial's tradition either; to the Yeoman and the Website's
Admin Department, mediocrity is unacceptable. The Hannah's 'Can do, do now' attitude is the common thread
that runs through all of us who served proudly in her, and this is why our Nation gives out Medals of Recognition.
It is also why this Site must continue in this tradition. Therefore, I present to you, the names of those who have thus
far shown this extraordinary quality, and are so deserving of this Award. Please join with me, in saluting all those who have been selected
for the "Jake's 'Yankee Station' - USS Hancock CV/CVA-19 Memorial's 'Special Recognition and Achievement Award: OUR CREW: The
Special USS Hancock CV/CVA-19 "CREW" Recognition Citation, Above all else, the Crew of all Era's is due Special Recognition. For most of us, we felt it was just
our duty we were performing and no Special Recognition was required. However, this Award comes from this Website
to all of those who served proudly and honorably on the U.S.S. Hancock. So whether you felt or feel today, that
you should be given special recognition, you are getting it anyway, so "belay" that Sailor!

- Dennis F. Milliken, former QM3, USN, Quartermaster Extraordinaré and current XO and the Hancock Memorial's Chief Historian
- Earl P. Ayres, 'Almost' Plank Owner and contributor of the 'Earl P. Ayres Extended WWII Gallery'
- Acknowledgment is given to Dan Larkin, CWO4, USN (Ret) for his contribution of the 'Hannah Awards' Information that makes up the 'Hannah Awards Center'.
- Special Acknowledgment is given to Jack Downs of Midlothian, Illinois for his contribution of several articles in the Navy Times and the Hancock Signature, placed by the Public Information Office.
- Richard A. Kirsch, PH3, USNR, (Ret), for his contribution of the Fantastic Extended Middle Years Gallery! Rich was a former 'Key Runner" and Photographers Mate on the USS Hancock during refitting in 1953 and served on the Hannah to 1955, during which time, he took many photos of our ship, and we are now the proud beneficiaries of his collection!
- Capt Herschel A. Pahl, USN, (Ret), for his outstanding Career and his contribution to this website as our Official WWII Aviation Historian and War Actions Coordinator. Hersch has aided this website immensely in helping to make it one of the "Premier Naval History Websites" on the Internet, and it is with great pride that he is a member of our Admin Department, for which we do honor him here with the "Special Recognition and Achievement Award of Excellence"
- Richard E. Roberts, GMT3, W-Division, USN (Ret) Hancock '63-'67, for his outstanding and articulate words describing life aboard the USS Hancock. Few, in your Yeoman's estimation, have written as eloquent words regarding life in Hancock as has Rick. Your Yeoman thought he stood alone in such deep feelings for the "Fighting Hannah" - but as time goes by, more and more are my thoughts being proven wrong. When it comes down to it, I'm quite sure most all will regard their "Passage" to Adulthood aboard the Hannah as such a time. Oh, sure, you will always find the malcontented or regarded their time aboard ship as not even worth thinking about anymore, but for the majority of us who remain, we are grateful that we have common ground in our feelings.
- Gordon Parker, V-1 Division - 1955 has been awarded this Award for his help in bringing some closure on the Crash of a F7U Cutlass aboard Hancock's Round-Down, and providing more information in honoring LCDR Jay Alkire, the pilot of that tragic event.
- There are more Individuals who were awarded the Special Recognition Award for help in 'Project Remembrance' - to see them, go here.
